Big Helper

Carter so impressed me yesterday. All the rain we have gotten = major weeds all over my flower beds and especially our vegetable garden. Carter was itching to help and I must admit I was a bit hesitant, after all it can be hard to tell a weed from a flowering plant or a vegetable plant! I lifted Carter over the fence and explained how the rows of vegetables were growing and then showed him where the weeds were. For the next hour he and I weeded, planted some new crops and discussed each and every variety of plant in the garden. Thank you, Carter, for this memory!

The Close of Another School Year

Carter with Mrs. McAtee and Miss Marie 2009

It is hard to believe that the end of the school year is upon us but somehow it is May and I am left wondering how it is time has flown by.... Wasn't it just September? Didn't the year just start? I am having a hard to wrapping my brain around the idea that next year will mark the last of Carter's pre-school years and when we enter the building next September Carter will enter as a Senior!

This year has been full of challenges and triumphs for Carter. He has grown and matured so much since starting the year and we couldn't be more proud. Carter continued to have an IU support teacher visit his classroom twice a month and even though tough at times Carter met and surpassed most of the goals that Miss Kelly set for him at the start of the year. Quite an accomplishment for our Carter!

Mrs. McAtee and Miss Marie must be thanked! Carter absolutely loves both of them. Their support and kind words are more appreciated than they will ever know!

Tomorrow is the last day of school and Carter and his classmates will celebrate with a pizza party! Be sure to check back for pictures as I am sure it will be a great day of pizza, games and fun!

Happy Birthday, Mimi!

Today our Mimi celebrates her birthday! We wish a very happy day and we love you very much! Enjoy every moment and Happy Birthday!

Mother's Tea

This past Thursday Carter and I celebrated the student's mommies with a Mother's Tea. It is my most favorite event of the whole school calendar....what can I say?....I am total sap especially when it comes to hearing my first born croon the words, "you are my mommy, you are my mommy, my really special mommy."! Let's just say my heart turned to mush and my eyes filled with tears. This has been a very special year for both Carter and myself and this was the perfect way to end. All of Carter's classmates are very special and I have enjoyed getting to know all of the Moms. I am so happy to know that most of the class from this year's juniors will be in the senior class with Carter next year....Carter is thrilled, also, since he has made some fantastic friends.

Carter and I get ready to leave for the tea.
Arriving at the tea and wearing this beautiful hat that Carter made for me. I was also presented with a card, necklace, flower pot with Carter's picture and place mat.
Hanging with some very special friends.

So handsome and growing up so fast!

Carter will be attending the summer program that the school is offering so please check back for school updates through the month of June. A big thank you to Nanny and Pappy for their generous gift to make summer school possible! There is no better gift than the gift of education!!

Mr. Fancy is back.....

....and is fancier than before! McGraw sports a tie that the boys found for him. Carter told him that this is the fanciest that he has looked. Poor pup, how is he going to out do this look?
I am so thankful that he is such a patient easy going dog!

In Loving Memory

Our little town of Nazareth has a wonderful shade tree commission. It is truly a fantastic way to beautify the local parks and to honor a loved one! And that is exactly what we did! We chose a to plant a tree in memory of Brian's dad. The chosen spot sits up on a small hill overlooking the baseball diamond, something Brian's dad would have loved! Even more special is that Brian, our boys and Brian's mom and brother planted the tree. Carter was especially interested in the tree and why we were planting it....I can not think of a better place to take our boys to visit for their Pop-Pop was a very special man and loved by many and we always want to Carter and Elijah to know what a fantastic person he was!

Brian with his mom, brother and Eli. Yes, Carter is still working on shoveling the dirt...he did a great job.

Dirt=Happiness

Leave it to my Dad (or Poppy, as he is also known) to always have something interesting going on! Late last week he had mega dirt delivered to finish up a play area for the boys. Needless to say Carter and Elijah were thrilled.

Getting the dump truck backed in.
Poppy checks the dirt to make sure it is nice clean fill.
Patiently waiting to watch the big dump.

Here we go.....
.....still dumping......
...finished!
Checking out the pile. Is this a dream?
No Way! A HUGE PILE OF DIRT!! And Carter is king of the pile.
So is Eli. Surveying the pile and begging Poppy to get the tractor out to move some dirt around!
Oh yeah, he tried to ride it down the pile!
