My Little Puddin'

Looks yummy, doesn't it?

Walking the Path

We enjoyed our first nice long walk on the path this past weekend (about 4 miles). Carter was so happy to get out and let loose a little bit. First, I must say Carter walked the whole time...that's a lot of walking'!! He also enjoyed exploring and found railroad ties and enjoyed trekking off the path to a little stone bridge. Elijah, no longer satisfied to ride and watch all the action, did a lot of walking too!
It was so great to see green starting to pop out everywhere along the path.....the ducks seemed happy about it too and were happily quacking and flying overhead. We also saw a mommy and daddy duck nesting....which Carter thought was very cool. We can't wait until the ducklings hatch and hope to catch a glimpse of them!! It is so pleasing to watch the boys explore and enjoy nature as Brian and I love the outdoors.....what a great family day!

The Seahorse and the Shark

Carter has taken to drawing doodles lately. This is his best so far! In Carter's words..."It's a seahorse with a shark wrapped around him." Pretty awesome....nicely done!!!

Silly Boys

Carter and Elijah enjoy a little bit of horsing around with their dad.

Our Garden is Growing!

We have plants!!! One week after planting we are seeing green. Our sunflowers, zinnias, squash, zucchini, cucumbers and pumpkins are coming up. Our other tray seems to be growing a bit slow but it looks like we may see some peas and carrots in the next couple of days....be sure to check back.

Weekly School Update: Shamrocks and Hearts

This week's religion theme was Jesus heals a blind man and class also focused on favorite stories and fairy tales. Which explains the below picture of Humpty Dumpty. Carter was very excited to go to school on Thursday since the class focused on the story of Humpty.
Tuesday was, of course, St. Patrick's day and Carter cut and glittered this little shamrock. He was also very thrilled that his shamrock hung beside the one that Shayna made.
Also in Carter's cubby was the hand print heart that was made to decorate the hallway for Valentine's day. As you can see Carter's scissor skills are improving!!
Carter also has been treating us by singing songs that he is learning at school. This weekend we enjoyed Jesus Loves Me. We are also making big leaps in learning the alphabet and singing the ABC's and there has been big improvement with counting as well. All if these strides continue to make us very proud to have such a fantastic son!!

Getting Ready to Grow our Garden

Carter and I took full advantage of the beautiful weather on Saturday by planting our seeds for the garden. Carter so enjoyed the little garden we created last year and couldn't wait to get this season started. He picked the seeds, distributed the soil into the growing pots and sowed the seeds. This year Brian will have to enlarge our garden considerably as we have planted the following...zucchini, squash, pumpkins, cucumbers, watermelon, carrots, cantaloupe, peas, sunflowers and zinnias. Quite an undertaking for two novice vegetable gardeners!! We also chose some flower seed packets to plant in the flower beds around the yard and must get them planted soon. It is so cool that Carter seems to share my love of gardening and it is amazing to watch his excitement over something that I enjoy so much.

Please be sure to check back for pictures that will chronicle the progress of our little plants and with any luck we will have plenty of produce to share with all of you!

Dad's Breakfast

My very handsome boys get ready to leave for their Dad's breakfast at school.
Carter has been excitedly waiting for yesterday's breakfast. Since school isn't in session for Father's Day the children celebrate with their daddy's in March. The boys enjoyed doughnuts, muffins and danish and then the children sang special songs that they have been learning, followed by craft time together. Brian was also presented with a bag of goodies specially made by Carter. Included were a very handsome tie, a special picture of Carter, a card and key chain. Carter also made special place mats for himself and his daddy. When my boys got home Carter was smiling form ear to ear and loved sharing everything about his special morning with his daddy!

Spring Fever

The boys LOVED the spring like weather we had this past weekend. It was so nice to be able to spend time outside...especially without the hassle of having to bundle up. The boys favorite part of the weekend....being able to eat outside on their picnic table!

Weekly School Update

What a fabulous school week. Carter received stellar reports from both of his teachers. Although he is not a bad child, I know that Carter is a hand full and can be challenging on the best of days so to hear that on both Tuesday and Thursday that he used his best behavior was just fantastic! Carter is also starting to talk about school and share the new things that he is learning.

Carter is working very hard on counting and learning his ABC's....another huge step for our little man. He is also beginning to understand the concept of the calendar and the days of the week. All signs of his ever growing maturity.

Thursday is the Dad's Breakfast and Carter and his class have been working on all types of special songs and secret crafts for their daddies. Carter is extremely excited to take his dad to school and can not wait for Thursday to arrive.
