Carter Update

For those of you who are keeping up with Carter's therapy, some big exciting things have happened since his 5th birthday.
First, is that he has been released from the IU-20 program. Mrs. Chiles, his itinerant teacher feels that he has met all the goals put into place for him and there is no need to continue with the program upon entering kindergarten.
Second, is that Carter will enter into a regular school program in September with no special ed put into place! I have had several meetings with the principal, reading specialist and school psychiatrist and even thought there are areas in which Carter shows a delay, there seems to be no reason to not enter into the district in a regular classroom.
Brian, myself and the above mentioned seem to be "on the same page" and feel that once into the school routine Carter will catch up quickly.
Carter continues be very excited for school to start in September. The few trips he has made to Shafer have been very positive and he seems very comfortable there.
Brian and I are very proud of Carter. The last several years have not always been easy but it has been Carter's determination and happy-go-lucky spirit that have gotten us all to this point. Way to go, my little kindergartner!
